Decision To Have Breasts ReconstructedViews: 177

After I was done with my radiation treatments, I pondered as to what kind of breast reconstruction I wanted. I am married and still a young 50, so I decided that I would grow old with perky breasts. I made a decision to have the Bilateral Tram Flap Breast Reconstruction because the Plastic Surgeon would be using my own skin, fat and tissue and the idea of a tummy tuck was appealing to me. This would make for a more natural feel and look of the breasts.
This was a long surgery but hey you have to make a sacrifice to be beautiful. (smile) Surgery is always risky but I figured I wanted to undo what cancer had done to me and this was one way to do it. After all, I still had a strong faith that God would bring me through this surgery.

The surgery was done on 3-13-07 and at first it was a success. Unfortunately, the left breast didn’t survive because of complications. I will be facing another surgery on 7-17-07 to construct the left breast. In my first blog, I mentioned that I have online talk shows to promote awareness that “Cancer Doesn’t Have To Be A Death Sentence”
Next month marks the 1 year anniversary of my talk shows and I will be having a show on 6-23-07 at 11am Eastern to honor this milestone. On the show, I will be discussing “Surgery Because Of Cancer” I am inviting anyone who’s interested in attending and I’m looking for others to share their experience. Here’s the link to download the free iConference Software and to gain access to the show.

I will be updating my weblog to keep folks informed about my upcoming surgery.

Jerryann – It is great to hear from you.
Sorry to hear about your left breast, but it sounds like you are doing well otherwise. Glad you are still getting the word out with your talk show. Lots of love. Jill

Hi there, I have not seen you here before, I have only been here for a short time.
Looking forward to taking part in the on line talk show.
